To Be A Woman In Cannabis Is To Be A Chemchix
To be a woman in cannabis is to be a “Chemchix'' and the CEO of Chemchix is leaning into that pleasure; the pleasure that is acknowledging all the incredible women making the culture what it is, the pleasure of finding and stepping into our power. Deeply dedicated to creating a space where women of all backgrounds can not only be tolerated, but rather celebrated, for their unique contributions; her social media presence revolves around giving a platform to these women in cannabis, while her website gives access to tools in which women can pursue a quality grow-process.
When asked more about what her “muse” or reason was for the incredulously discounted “Garage Sale” items found on her website; she replied “I love women in cannabis. I have love for the extraction space and the extractors themselves.” She just wants to meet people where they’re at financially, regardless of what resources they have available. I don’t know about you, readers, but that sounds like an actionable resource to me.
That’s not her only muse, though. Her experience in the industry on the marketing side of things is where she began to feel the call to uplift the voices of women in the space. As she shared her experiences of repetitive stolen credit and misplaced honor with me, I understood completely how she got inspired to be the change.
“I started off in the industry doing marketing and it was all men who would get the credit, but every facet in the process was by a woman….” she began. “I mean, every time I dig deeper into things, there's a woman behind it! I didn’t even know the CEO of Wana was a woman! And we’re at every step of the process from growers to extractors, sales and marketing, even the receptionists. There’s a woman behind it all.”
This woman is a woman’s woman, for sure. She is there to illuminate the throne for every Queen, so they confidently take their seats at the table. And quite honestly, that’s what we need more of.
Let’s Play a Game!
I asked this Chemchix Queen to play “Canna Connoisseur” with me, and she did not disappoint; immediately engaging deeper into the conversation with a renewed energy and quickly curating the perfect music selections for her preferred medicine selections. With a little squeal of joy while she mentally filtered her playlists, she agreed that music and cannabis both have a healing component, saying, “Music and Cannabis is the Universal leveler.”
After sharing that she’s a big fan of a more skunky flower, or perhaps even a deep fruity flavor and explaining how she gets disappointed with how light the fruit flavors are in some strains, her voice sparked up when “Orange Cookie Chem” popped into her mind.
As she explained each component of the blend to me, with more and more excitement, I was incredibly influenced to feel the body high that the “Girl Scout” gives, taste the gassy flavor of the “Chem 91”, and the tangy zest of the “Orange Haze”.
Her music pairing? “Come Together” by The Beatles.
In her next pairing, she combines a crowd-favorite psychedelic, “Stargazers”, specifically “Golden Teacher”, with the song “Walking On Sunshine” by Katrina and The Waves.
When I expressed my lack of personal experience with psychedelics of any kind, the conversation took a more educational turn, and I appreciated her stepping up to the plate with a very warm response to share her insights. Mainly, the difference between cognitive mushrooms and psychedelic mushrooms. She also shared how Lion’s Mane and Turkey Tail are going to be something far different than the previously mentioned mushroom, and how macro and micro dosing are for two varying healing experiences.
We deep-belly-laughed over the propaganda that we probably all remember being shown at some point in our childhoods. You know the one...D.A.R.E. I say it aloud?! And then the topic shifted once more to current educational resources. After that and some side-story sharing, we refocused our attention on the final questions, the answers to which can’t wait to share with our Fat Nugs Family:
What are you manifesting next?
“I want to make Chemchix a household name. I want to help promote more women in chemistry and cannabis. I want to make Chemchix a household brand to identify women in cannabis. I want women to say “I am a Chemchick” as a way of celebrating that they are a woman in cannabis. To just acknowledge women in cannabis.”
How can people help?
“People can help by following my page, interacting, nominating Chemchix, using hashtags with ‘every woman in cannabis’, following my page, and mainly just identifying as a Chemchick."
What is your inner child saying about where you’re at now?
“I’m shocked. I wanted to be a lawyer, but [I’m] so proud for not conforming. Who would've thought that as a D.A.R.E kid I’d be making a living doing this legally. She’s proud cuz she stuck with what she wanted. Yeah….she’s proud.”
After relating to many of the root causes for her mission, this “Naive Newb” is proud to add Chemchix to the mix. Cannabis culture connects us all.
